Savi’s Warbler at Heslington East

On Tuesday 11th May, Colin Beale was ringing on his Constant Effort Site at Heslington East, University of York when he caught a Savi’s Warbler in his mist nets. He put the news out as a potential Savi’s as he was checking his other nets and, as had a number of other birds to process, there was enough time for some birders close by to make it before it was released. After that the bird frequented the reed beds at the western end of the lake and was regularly reeling, giving views on occasion. It was last reported there on the morning of 27th May.
