Recent website updates

  1. The December indoor meeting was the Photographic Competition, which was an enjoyable evening looking at the excellent range of photos taken by club members. Thanks to Emanuela for organising it and congratulations to all who entered, particularly to the winners. The results, including a gallery of the top three in each category, is now available on the website at http://yorkbirding.org.uk/photo-competition-2023/.
  2. The club spreadsheet for capturing 2024 records has been made available to download at http://yorkbirding.org.uk/records/ from where you can also download the one for 2023 if you still need it. For those with older software, a version in xls rather than xlsx format can be requested by emailing the . There is also a version that uses BTO species code for entry if you wish to try that.
  3. Next year’s programme for talks and trips has been available on the site for a couple of weeks now and can be accessed from the menu or the links in the home page widgets.
  4. Also new on the website is a species list page with links to photos. This is work in progress by Duncan Bye but available now on http://yorkbirding.org.uk/york-species-list-gallery/. I am sure Duncan would welcome any photos taken in the York recording area that will fill the gaps, or improve on the selection, please let him know.
  5. Further work is in progress to update our information about sites at http://yorkbirding.org.uk/sites/. Links to a number of new sites have been added, the Strensall Common page has been updated by Nigel Boatman and Duncan has pulled together a new page for the Foss Flood area from recent postings on YorkBirding by Peter et al. If anyone can help to refresh information or write up accounts of sites we haven’t covered yet, please let me know.
  6. We now have a workaround solution for the Twitter (now X) feeds issue. Though the timeline still cannot be embedded, there is a link to it that can take you to a site called Nitter to see the latest posts.
