Stamford Bridge Field Trip 9 July
An enjoyable day was had by the 22 attendees today firstly visiting Stamford Bridge Flash at the southern side of the Derwent a short way along the riverside path towards Buttercrambe Mill. 46 species were seen here including Spotted Flycatcher, Kingfisher a pair of Grey Wagtails, Coal & Marsh Tits, Nuthatch, Tree Creeper, Sparrowhawk and a flyover Oystercatcher.
Secondly we went onto Moor (Buttercrambe) Wood, a private site but we had the kind permission of the land owner to visit today. Another Spotted Flycatcher on the W side, a good selection of typical species of Nuthatch (several pairs), Tree Creeper, Goldcrest, Coal & Marsh Tits, all in 29 species.
Finally we went onto Leavening Brow, for lunch, which gives a fine view looking North. A few raptor species of Buzzard, Kestrel and Red Kite.
Total species count for the three sites visited was I believe 55.
