Spurn/Kilnsea 16th April
Ten of us had a most enjoyable day in the Spurn area. First of all we visited Kilnsea Wetlands where there was a Sedge Warbler by the car park, a small selection of ducks with Swallows and Sand Martins flying over the water. We then picked up the Shore Lark at Beacon Ponds and a Yellow Wagtail showed on the Wetlands with Wheatear there too, more Wheatear were seen at various places during the day. A detour to Sammy’s Point resulted in great views of a male Ring Ouzel and the first Whitethroat of the year for all. Having see a couple of Buzzards fly past we were treated to a ringtail Hen Harrier fly past. After lunch, we walked the Triangle when the high tide roost of waders, four Ruff, Brent Geese and seven Pink-footed Geese were highlights while some (presumably) Harbour Porpoises were offshore.
