Puffin, Fratercula arctica

Local status: Very rare passage migrant

The sight of a Puffin flying up the River Ouse towards York must have been a special moment indeed. Large numbers breed on the Yorkshire coast, but this remains an exceptional rarity inland in Yorkshire.
