This species has had a difficult modern history with five records between 1978 and 2000, none of which appears to have been accepted by BBRC.

Records
2023: *Wheldrake Ings, 22nd April. one heard after dark as it flew east unseen. Record is subject to acceptance by the YNU
2018: Hambleton, near Selby, 12th December. presumed to be the same bird then turned up by a fish pond in another private garden
2018: Escrick, 4th December. adult, identified when a “phone shot“ was shown to a local birder.
