Dipper, Cinclus cinclus
Local status: Former breeding species in small numbers, now very rare.
Bred on River Rye at Nunnington, Crambeck and West Ness until 1991.Thereafter, has become a very rare visitor to the area.

2018: small brook which runs into Newburgh Priory, 2nd to 29th December. one
2016: Kirkham area, 28th June. (one)
2008: Crambeck, 10th May.
1999: Holbeck Stream, Gilling, 27th February.
1994: Hovingham, 23rd January.
1992: West Ness, 16th and 18th July. Juveniles seen, so may have bred locally.
1991: Nunnington and West Ness, present all year and bred.
1990: Pocklington Canal, Bielby, 10th and 12th December.
1990: Nunnington, 4th May (adult), 3rd June (juvenile).
1990: West Ness, pair bred.
