Barred Warbler, Sylvia nisoria

Local status: Very rare passage migrant

The very presence of this species on the York area list is testament to the efforts of bird ringers. Both individuals were discovered in mist nets, demonstrating what is moving through our area unseen. After the news of the 2014 bird’s capture, a report was made of possibly the same bird seen in a mixed warbler flock at Melbourne the previous day
