Temminck’s Stint, Calidris temminckii
Local status: Rare passage migrant
This furtive little wader is usually detected in May and the Lower Derwent Valley has proved to be the best site, but three records have been from other sites. The species is much rarer on autumn passage which makes the two York records in that season more noteworthy. The recent records from from Bank Island, it doesn’t seem too far-fetched to speculate that these records could relate to the same individual.
