Red-footed Falcon, Falco vespertinus
Local status: Very rare vagrant
This attractive species from southeast Europe is typically found in late spring, and the handful of York area records conform to this pattern. Though reported by the YOC, four further records were not listed by YNU.
Records:
2020: Pool Bridge Farm at Crockey Hill, 21st and 22nd June may have been the same bird as the one at Biggin.
2020: Biggin, 15th to 20th June, had been there since the 11th. first-summer female
2020: Wheldrake Ings, 7th May (male)
2008: Howden Station, 26th to 27th May. First-summer male.
2002: North Duffield Carrs, 19th May. Female.
1992: Fulford Golf Course, 25th June. Female.
1984: Brandsby, 5th September. Hit by a car.
