Iceland Gull Larus glaucoides
Scarce winter visitor
As with Glaucous Gull, in recent years the two key sites have been Harewood Whin/Rufforth Tip and the roost at Wheldrake Ings. Similarly, the majority of records have been in the December to March period, with no records in June or July, though one at Rufforth Tip on 31st May 2017 was unusually late.
The closure of the tip is already leading to a reduction in records; there was only one record in 2019 and none in 2022 (the first blank year since 2007).
