Firecrest, Regulus ignicapilla
Local status: Rare passage migrant and winter visitor
April and November seem to be good months to catch up with this attractive ‘crest. Firecrests have overwintered on at least one occasion in the York area and it is likely that birds recorded in the winter months may have been present for a while
